My preschooler’s themed educational activity binder

I do daycare but for awhile C has been my only preschool aged kiddo. I feel I’m really good in a group setting but I need some help with one on one. I’m sure I’m not the only parent trying to sneak in some more education but keep it fun! So here’s one of the things I’m doing to help continue C’s education this summer! Stay tuned for some more things yet to come that are equally as awesome!

I somehow ran across these kits on Etsy one night and they were really amazing but more than I wanted to spend which happens frequently on Etsy. So I looked for inspiration on Pinterest thinking I might have to forge my own way but I found this pack which is affordable and awesome. I was only looking for an astronaut or airplane packets but I imagine you can find just about any theme on Pinterest but I haven’t looked.

If you would like to purchase the same outerspace activity pack or another activity pack that is available from Pre-k printables club you can find them Here

I do not have the 3 ring binder pictured but the supplies are as followed,

  • Whole punch
  • Three ring punch
  • Laminator
  • Laminating sheets
  • Activity pack
  • Three ring binder
  • Printing
  • If you have your own printer this would be super helpful and cost efficient to use it. You would then be able to select which pages you would want to use and print accordingly. I do not have my own printer and I really should. If you possess the skills needed to edit the file and select which pages you want to print that would also cut costs. I however do not possess those skills. So I have Staples or Office Depot print the entire file. It’s an option if you are like me and have no real computer skills. 🤷‍♀️ it is what it is!
  • Lamenting

Let’s talk about my laminator! It’s amazing and I love it and I use it for lots of things! I ordered it from target and I want to say I spent like $17 on it. There are so many things you can laminate. Ive made placemats, dry erase worksheets, and more! It’s one handy dandy tool I’m glad I have. If you don’t have a laminator Staples, Office Depot, or any print and marketing shop you have locally should be able to laminate for you. It’s a little more expensive but if you want things to last when you have children and you want to be able to reuse them laminating is the way to go.

The laminating sheets aren’t too expensive but I think I did use an entire pack of them to make this activity binder. I have only used the correlating laminating sheets to my laminator but they usually have a offbrand available. You’ll have to let me know if you have success with the offbrand I’m dying to know!

    Whole punching

The reason for the two different hole punches is because for me once laminated the sheet does not fit in my three ring hole punch. So I used my three ring hole punch before laminating, laminated the page, and then used my single hole punch to punch through the lamination. There could totally be other ways to do this but this is the way that I did it. 😊

He really likes it and so far and we’ve been doing a little work in the morning after breakfast. I don’t push him I just let him decide what pages to work on and we go with it. This morning he wanted to do the uppercase and lowercase letter match page So we did. He wanted to find the correlating match to all the letters on the page but what I like about it is we could concentrate on just a couple letters at a time until we know them really good and then add more. I said the name of each letter and the ones that he definitely wasn’t going to get I helped him find. The most important thing to me here was that he was engaged in the activity and it held his focus. He also had fun!

I have lots more pages I can laminate if these get boring or he just gets too good at them. I think I’m going to try to make one of these activity binders every couple months. Then we can switch them out and have lots of options.

Here’s what I used so far! We primarily use our Crayola dry erase crayons and if you don’t have any you should get some!

I hope that I’ve inspired you! If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them as always thanks for checking out my blog! If you’ve enjoyed this post you can always follow me and get email notifications for the next post! Have a great day!
